The Latest! It’s All The News That Is, From Seoul.
What’s more happening than Breaking News? News that’s Shattering like the Hard Sugar Shell on Fruit on a Stick!
I Got Carded!

I got handed a frequent fruit flier card the last time I went to the newer of the two nearby “Fresh Fruit Encased In A Hard Sugar Shell On A Stick” shops.

And it was already stamped for 3 visits. They remembered me! It could have been because of the time it took me several awkward tries to pronounce “strawberry” in Korean. The jubilation was great when I finally got it right.
But I am IN.
I suspect that this newer shop is part of a chain, while the older one across the street is more of a mom-and-pop place. But the older shop is sold out of flavors more often, I have noticed, with its reassuringly steady stream of committed customers.
I am so proud to have been handed a loyalty card!
Still, I am slightly worried that by accepting the repeat-customer card from the newer shop, I am being co-opted by Big “Fresh Fruit Encased In A Hard Sugar Shell On A Stick.”
I will definitely let you know how this goes.
Korean Lessons!
I am working on setting up a few language lessons at a local Korean school with a tutor. Because: my pronunciation is terrible. So I will soon pay a large sum of money to find out exactly how terrible.
Wee Paws Now: The Cat Cafe!
I have been working on some initial parts of my new book on satire in Cat Cafes. (Yes, that is the first public mention of actual work since I left the US in mid-December.) I have so far visited two Cat Cafes: Cat’s Playground, and Cats N Study. These are cafes with coffee and tea, with cats. You drink coffee or tea, and work on your book, and the cats wander around doing cat things. They sit on your table, purr, take naps, and bat at your jacket zipper.

I may end up getting a fair bit of work done on my book, sitting and typing in Cat Cafes. You know how other people have acknowledgements in their books? They thank their agent, and their editors. I don’t have an agent or editors. I will be thanking Muffin, and Tobey, and Yumo, and especially Fluffypants.
